There is no secret warp drive technology in Starfield. The only warp drive technology in the game is the standard grav drive, which is available to all players. To unlock the grav drive, you need to complete the main quest “The Journey to Atora.” Once you have completed this quest, you will be able to use the grav drive to travel to any star system in the game.
There are a few ways to initiate warp drive. One way is to mid-flight. If you are flying your spaceship and have a targetable marker for a specific star system, you can hold down the X button on Xbox Series consoles or the button you have hotkeyed for this on PC to initiate warp drive.
Another way to initiate warp drive is through the Star Map. Open up your menu, select the Star Map tab, and then find the star system you want to travel to. Once you have found the star system, hover over it and press the X button on Xbox Series consoles or the button you have hotkeyed for this on PC to initiate warp drive.
Please note that you will need to have enough power distributed to the grav drive in order to initiate warp drive. If you don’t have enough power, you will see a message saying that the grav drive is offline. To increase the power distributed to the grav drive, you can upgrade your ship’s power plant or install more power cells.
